Chick Immunograde Type I Collagen

Cat No:C-0037

Description

Immunograde Collagen is a high purity collagen used as a standard for collagen analysis, a substrate for collagenase action, and for research on collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in immunized animals.

Basic Information

Specifications 10 mg
Synonyms Highly purified type I collagen
Applications Our immune grade collagen can be used to immunize rodents to induce arthritis (CIA model) or to produce antibodies.
Form Lyophilized powder
Source Chicken skin
MW 300 kDa (consists of two α1(I) chains and one α2(I) chain)
Purity >99% by SDS-PAGE
Storage Collagen is stored in the dark at 4°C for lyophilized forms and -20°C for solution forms.
Shelf Life 2 years
Usage Dissolve type I collagen at a concentration of 4 mg/mL in an acidic buffer solution, such as 0.01–0.05 M acetic acid at pH 3.0–3.3 or 0.15 M citrate buffer at pH 3.6, and mix overnight at 4°C. Due to the rigidity and long triple helix conformation of collagen molecules, it is recommended to keep the collagen solution concentration below 4 mg/mL; concentrations above 4 mg/mL will result in high viscosity and difficulty in handling. To dissolve collagen in a neutral buffer, dissolve collagen in 0.01–0.05 M acetic acid, add two volumes of neutral buffer, and then dilute with one volume of buffer. The collagen solution must be kept on ice. Do not leave the neutral collagen solution at room temperature, as collagen will form a gel.
