Collagen is abundant in mammals, accounting for approximately 20% of the total protein in mammals. It is also a very important protein in the human body, mainly found in connective tissues, and is absent in plant tissues. It has a strong stretchability and is the main component of ligaments as well as the main component of extracellular matrix.
