Polycaprolactone (MN 50000-60000)
Catalog Number: | PCL-016 |
Description: | Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a semi-crystalline hydrophobic biodegradable polyester which has a wide range of applications in the pharmaceutical field due to its low cost, toughness and biocompatibility.PCL possesses some unique properties such as:- It degrades slower than other biodegradable polyesters under physiological conditions, a property that can be used for controlled release of drugs from target tissues over a period of time. - Due to its hydrophobicity, it has poor surface wettability and poor interaction with biofluids, leading to poor cell adhesion and proliferation, and hence is used in blends with other synthetic/natural polymers. |
