Polycaprolactone (MN 80000-100000)
Catalog Number: | PCL-015 |
Description: | Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a semi-crystalline hydrophobic biodegradable polyester that has a wide range of applications in the pharmaceutical field due to its low cost, toughness, and biocompatibility.PCL has some unique properties such as. It degrades slower than other biodegradable polyesters under physiological conditions, a property that can be used for controlled release of drugs from target tissues over a period of time. Due to its hydrophobicity, it has poor surface wettability and poor interaction with biofluids, leading to poor cell adhesion and proliferation, and hence is used in blends with other synthetic/natural polymers. |
