Polycaprolactone (MW 50000)
Catalog Number: | PCL-010 |
Description: | Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a biodegradable polyester that is easy to manufacture, handle and blend. |
Basic Information
Formula | (C6H10O2)n |
Synonyms | PCL; Caprolactone homopolymer; (1,7)-Polyoxepan-2-one; Poly(hexano-6-lactone); 2-Oxepanone homopolymer; 6-Caprolactone polymer |
Applications | PCL can be used as an additive to resins to improve their processing characteristics and end-use properties. PCL blends have been studied extensively to reduce cost and improve biodegradability by blending with starch and other low-cost organic fillers. PCL is a bioabsorbable polymer that has received a lot of attention for use as a long-term degradable implant due to the ease with which it can be physically, chemically and biologically manipulated to meet specific requirements. It has also been investigated as a scaffold for tissue repair through tissue engineering. |
