Description 4',6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole dihydrochloride (DAPI) is a nuclear staining reagent that stains DNA and releases a blue fluorescence that is enhanced approximately 20-fold when embedded in double-stranded DNA. DAPI is commonly used in apoptosis assays, which are visualized by fluorescence microscopy or detected by flow cytometry after staining.DAPI is also used in the detection of apoptosis.
