Bio-Based Material SolutionsIn the global context, the food industry has reached an inflection point. It is now more than ever under scrutiny to improve its sustainability practices in terms of environmental impact and resource conservation. In light of these challenges, our company bio-based material solutions is focused on developing and advancing innovative sustainable biotechnologies with a view to optimally utilize by-products of the food industry and renewable biological resources through advanced biotechnological methods and transform them into packaged value-added bio based materials, functional ingredients, and foods. This section highlights our aggressive pursuit of innovation and sustainability in the food industry using modern biotechnology.
Fig 1. Food waste-based bio-fertilizers production by bio-based fermenters (Mamun M., 2024)We offer bio based materials solutions as strategic services directed towards assisting partners from the food industry in the evolution towards circular economy models. Our primary focus is on the creation and production of bio based materials as well as high value added products from biological feedstocks. Several branches of biotechnology are represented in our scientific experience, including chitosan extraction and biotechnological production of biodegradable packaging materials and Single Cell Protein (SCP), which are offered as green substitutes for conventional products synthesized from fossil raw materials.

Biotechnology and chemical engineering are both disciplines that we apply in practice. Regarding chitosan production, we normally apply the deacetylation of chitin process, which we obtain from crustacean shells (a by-product in the food industry) via alkaline deacetylation in a controlled environment. The production of these biopolymers involves polymer science and the engineering of biodegradable materials and includes biopolymers such as PLA (Polylactic Acid), PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates), or even starch blends which are processed by extrusion, thermoforming, or film blowing. Production of Single Cell Protein (SCP) is performed via microbial fermentation where some strains of yeast, bacteria, or fungi are grown on a wide range of organic substrates, like food processing waste or plant stems and leaves, which they quickly turn into a protein-rich biomass.
