Nanoborides
CD BioSustainable specializes in nanoboride products for green industry, environmental catalysis, ecological restoration, and high-end manufacturing. Our nano-boron-based materials help clients achieve energy conservation, emission reduction, material upgrading, and low-carbon transformation.
What are Nanoborides?
Nanoborides are nanoscale compound materials formed by the combination of boron with metallic or non-metallic elements, typically including boron nitride, titanium diboride, boron carbide, and zirconium boride. These materials possess the following characteristics:
- Ultra-high Hardness: Approaching the hardness of diamond, with exceptional wear resistance.
- Excellent Thermal Stability: They maintain structural stability at high temperatures and are resistant to oxidation.
- Unique Electronic Properties: They can exhibit either metallic conductivity or semiconductor properties.
- Strong Neutron Absorption Capacity: The boron element naturally possesses a high neutron capture cross-section.
Applications of Nanoborides
- Clean Energy Catalysis: Used for efficient hydrogen production (e.g., hydrolysis of boron-containing amines), with superior catalytic activity and stability compared to traditional catalysts.
- Cancer Treatment (BNCT): Serves as the core agent in boron neutron capture therapy, precisely targeting and destroying tumor cells; often combined with photothermal therapy to enhance efficacy.
- Extreme-Temperature Thermal Protection: Formulated into ceramics such as zirconium diboride for heat-resistant components in hypersonic aircraft, offering excellent ablation resistance.
- Lithium-Ion Battery Anodes: Incorporated into silicon anodes to form Si-B alloys, significantly extending battery cycle life (high-capacity retention after thousands of cycles).
- Biosensing: Modified boron nitride nanosheets are used for highly sensitive detection of biomarkers (such as bilirubin) or pollutants.
