Description 7-Amino actinomycin D (7-AAD) is a non-permeable nucleic acid fluorescent dye. The dye does not penetrate the cell membrane of living cells, but it can penetrate the cell membrane of membrane-damaged cells, such as late apoptotic or necrotic cells, and bind to the DNA within them. 7-AAD can be used to distinguish surviving early cells from necrotic or late apoptotic cells and is widely used in flow cytometry.
