Description The APC-PI apoptosis kit utilizes the selective binding of Annexin V ( membrane-bound protein-V) to phosphatidylserine (PS) for apoptosis profiles. Phosphatidylserine (PS) is mainly distributed on the inner side of the cell membrane, i.e., the side adjacent to the cytoplasm. In the early stages of apoptosis, different types of cells ectopically turn phosphatidylserine onto the cell surface and are exposed to the extracellular environment. At this time, using the far-infrared fluorescent protein APC-labeled Annexin V, Annexin V-APC, in combination with the ectopically turned over PS, the ectopically turned over PS, an important feature of apoptosis, can be directly detected by flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy.
