The global bio-based synthetic fiber market is mainly occupied by polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) fiber, polylactic acid (PLA) fiber, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fiber and polyamide (PA) fiber. But polybutylene succinate (PBS) fiber, polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) fiber and several other fibers also show promise. PLA, PBS, PHA are biodegradable, while PTT, PA and PET are non-biodegradable.
